Project insights: 188 degassing and emission treatment services all over Europe in 2025
2025 has been a busy year for us once again – in 188 applications, we have supported our customers in treating residual and exhaust gases, reducing emissions and enhancing sustainability and safety in operations and maintenance. Let’s take a closer look at some of these applications.
Degassing and temporary replacement
In Antwerp, we have carried out the degassing of a major production plant. After the degassing was completed, our unit was applied to replace a stationary exhaust gas treatment system in the plant during its maintenance. For this application, we have deployed our 3 MW unit to the chemical plant. This mobile vapor combustion unit is extremely flexible and especially suited for short-term projects.
Long-term operation in Rotterdam
For a long-term operation for efficient emission treatment in a refinery and a tank terminal, we have deployed to units to Rotterdam. At the tank terminal, a 10 MW mobile vapor combustion unit is stationed permanently to treat the emissions during loading processes of ships and tank trucks. Our Mobile Combustor unit as a container is stationed at the refinery and ensures that all emissions are treated during ship loading. One of our mobile ATEX Zone 0 blowers for the extraction of vapors is deployed as well during this long-term application.
International projects
We have also carried out our very first application in Scandinavia. For this deployment, an operator team travelled to Finland with one of our 5 MW mobile vapor combustion units for the degassing of several tanks during a turnaround in the plant. Another unit hit the road and made its way to Saudi Arabia, where it is now ready for many emission treatment tasks to come in the Middle East.
VRU replacement
In a tank terminal in the Netherlands, our mobile vapor combustion unit has temporarily taken over the emission treatment for the stationary vapor recovery unit during its repair. As the VRU had to be shut down due to a malfunction, our mobile vapor combustion unit was deployed and ready for operation in under 24 hours. During the VRU downtime, we made sure that all emissions were correctly treated, ensuring that all operations and the loading of the tank trucks could proceed as usual. Thus, a shutdown of the entire facility was prevented.
Ship degassings
Our permanent ship degassing site in the Port of Duisburg was quite frequented as well. A vapor combustion unit and a nitrogen vaporizer are permanently stationed in the world’s biggest inland port, providing barges and vessels with a legal way to environmentally-friendly dispose of residual gases and vapors. Many inland barges, gas tankers and motor tankers stopped at our site for degassing and purging in preparation of maintenance, repair or product changes. One tank motor ship was purged with nitrogen to reduce the oxygen content in the vessel. Another vessel was degassed to prepare it for product change – the loading of naphtha had to be removed entirely so the ship could be loaded with another product.
Thank you to our team, partners and customers for a great year with many applications! Together, we have successfully overcome many challenges and contributed to enhancing safety and sustainability in the industry. We are looking forward to another year full of emission treatment applications!
